In this album, the concert choir of the girls' choir at Würzburg Cathedral presents the listener with musical pearls of Advent and Christmas choral literature of the 19th and 20th centuries.

The 24 tracks approach Christmas like an Advent calendar: Each of the three themes "Advent", "Mary" and "Christmas" has a few works dedicated to it, culminating in the heart of this album: the famous Christmas cycle "A Ceremony of Carols" by Benjamin Britten, which gives this CD its name.

The young singers allow the listener to immerse themselves in the winter worlds and take them on a journey through various European countries and through several centuries of Gregorian chant to the jewels of contemporary choral music. The young and radiant girls' voices are accompanied by the cathedral organist Prof. Stefan Schmid and the concert harpist Bettina Linck.
